Solar company Nautilus responds to the 2022 Solar Jobs Census

The report highlights the growth of the industry and the need for a skilled workforce

Summit, NJ (July 20, 2023) – Nautilus Solar, a leading solar developer and asset management company, has responded to the 13th Annual National Solar Jobs Census, issued by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC). The census highlights a thriving solar industry with significant job growth, underlining the need to cultivate a pool of qualified and skilled professionals to support the ongoing renewable energy revolution. Nautilus Solar is a sponsor of the 2022 Solar Jobs Census.

Speaking about the growth of the solar industry, Eric Paul, Vice President of Business Development for Nautilus Solar, emphasized, “The solar industry is growing rapidly, and renewable energy is becoming a driving force in job creation. By expanding our investments in solar infrastructure and clean energy for society, we are not only creating new jobs and savings for our subscribers, but also contributing to building a better, cleaner, and more sustainable future.”

The Census report highlights continued growth in the solar workforce in the United States, with a significant increase of 3.5% in 2022. It reveals a total of 263,883 solar workers across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, reflecting an increase of 8,846 jobs over the prior year. However, it is worth noting that in 2022, 44% of solar industry employers expressed difficulty finding qualified applicants, the highest percentage ever recorded in the solar job census.

“The solar industry has grown by leaps and bounds over the past decade, overcoming one challenge after another to create a quarter of a million jobs for Americans of all educational levels and backgrounds,” said Larry Sherwood, President and CEO of IREC. “With the passage of the Reducing Inflation Act, we can look forward to transformative job growth in solar, batteries, and other clean energy industries in the coming years.”

Sean Riane, Vice President of Construction for Nautilus Solar added: “The census of solar jobs demonstrates the steady growth and potential in the solar industry. Investing in developing a skilled workforce that can meet the demands of this expanding industry is vital to a successful transition to renewable energy.”

Passage of the inflation control law will contribute to the growth of manufacturing jobs in the solar and other clean energy industries in the coming years. However, the shortage of qualified and skilled labor remains a challenge for the solar energy industry. More efforts are needed to address this labor shortage, including increasing education and training programs to attract more workers, partnering with local schools, vocational schools, and community colleges to promote jobs in the solar industry, and raising awareness to change societal perceptions about highly skilled trade positions.

Nautilus Solar remains committed to promoting community solar adoption and supporting the growth of the solar industry. The company focuses on advocating for solar jobs to encourage the employment of trained workers and to eliminate negative societal perceptions of commercial occupations.

Furthermore, Nautilus Solar Energy is actively cultivating community partnerships to enhance and support the local economy. By collaborating with local stakeholders, the company aims to create opportunities for job creation, economic growth, and sustainable development within the communities in which it operates.
